This is really about the Abundance of Hope Shelter. It's a new kind of shelter for our county. There or only two others at the time, and neither serves the high-risk youth we'll be taking in. Neither wants to bother. Our county doesn't have the resources to build a government run one. As far as we can tell, no one's thought about and no one's going to do anything about it, and worse, they told us we can't.
Can't is a FOUR LETTER WORD. Therefore:
Our most urgent project is to provide a short and long term shelter complex for hard-to-place youth in Clark County. Unlike other shelters in the Portland area, The Abundance of Hope Shelter will be a new construction, built to specifically meet this need, so we will never have to sacrifice the children's needs or health due to limitations of an old building converted from some other purpose. It will also be the FIRST shelter of its kind right here in Clark County, filling a long overdue vacancy.Can't is a FOUR LETTER WORD. Therefore:
Additionally, Abundance of Hope aims to become a hub between groups such as social service organizations, law enforcement, and the people of Clark County, enriching and uniting the community by offering special events and programs involving local community leaders and motivational specialists such as the Kids Award Ceremonies.
Our future goals include creating programs such as a Young Adult Program where we can aide young adults 18 to 22 in housing, job training, and living skills enabling them to transition to independence and become contributors to our community.
